Bake N Play Cookery After School Club Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy
1. Introduction
Bake N Play Cookery After School Club is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all children. We recognize that every child is unique and that some children may require additional support to fully participate in our activities. This SEN Policy outlines our approach to supporting children with special educational needs and ensuring their full inclusion in our club.
2. Aims and Objectives
- To provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children, including those with special educational needs.
- To identify and assess the individual needs of children with SEN.
- To ensure that appropriate support and resources are available to meet the needs of children with SEN.
- To promote awareness and understanding of SEN among staff, children, and parents.
- To work in partnership with parents and schools to support children with SEN.
3. Definitions
For the purposes of this policy, special educational needs (SEN) refers to any child who has a learning difficulty or disability that requires special educational provision. This includes, but is not limited to, children with:
- Learning disabilities
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Sensory and/or physical needs
4. Identification and Assessment
- Parents have to provide and share information about their child's SEN needs during the registration process.
- Ongoing observations and assessments are conducted by staff to identify any additional needs that may arise.
- Information from schools and parents will be used to support the identification and assessment process.
5. Support and Provision
- Reasonable adjustments will be made to activities and the environment to ensure accessibility for all children.
6. Partnership with Parents and External Agencies
- We will work closely with parents to understand their child's needs and try to develop appropriate support plans.
- Regular communication will be maintained with parents.
- Where appropriate, we will liaise with schools to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting children with SEN.
8. Monitoring and Evaluation
- We will constantly monitor how a SEN child feels and enjoys the club.
- If we see at any point during our program that a SEN child feels overwhelmed or stop enjoying the activities we have the rights to talk to the parents/ schools to step in and support the child by joining him/her during the club. and/or in some cases we deserve the rights to
- Due to safety issues If we feel at any point that the behaviour of any child including a SEN child is considered as disruptive or dangerous for him and the others we deserve the rights to require him/her to stop attending our events. 9. Policy Review
This SEN Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our children and complies with current legislation and best practices.
